X Factor Ratings See Small Decline Second Night – Updated

X Factor was back last night for part two of it’s two-night USA series premiere. After the first night’s ratings you know the network was hoping for a strong word of mouth to push up the second night. I don’t think this was what they wanted.
Ratings for X Factor dropped 5% in the early returns for an 8.3 rating. That could move up a notch when the final numbers come in so we’ll keep an eye on that and update with those results.
Branden noted earlier in his X Factor episode 02 review that production could have opted for a sillier approach after the first night’s run of actual talent in hopes of boosting ratings. All FOX really needed last night was to stitch in some “Funniest Home Videos” of a dad getting hit in the groin by a t-ball bat and they’d have been done. I’m hoping they get back to focusing on the real talent.
Update: Final numbers are out and X Factor did alright. 11.4 million viewers in the first hour and up to 12.7 million in the second. The first hour fell behind the premiere of Big Bang Theory, but was able to climb to a win for the time slot in the second hour.
