Nicole should be eliminated from the show. Is the second week in a row that she has eliminated th wrong person. Also you have to make a decision, that is why you get pay, if you don’t do your job you get fired, and she didn’t do her job.

Acturally, first off, I agree with you, she did not do her job as a judge at all. she is weak. but she also had the opion to dead lock the judges votes. but if she were a real judge she would pick who she thought was the weaker talent and sent him home. i say the same to LA all he does it vote for his person not the better talent. Nicole is so bad and fake, she acts so upset and I cant do it. what a fake. I sure hope Rachel gets something out of this, but thats not the point, I wanted to see her again next week, not Marcus Canty or Chris Renee. stupid judge, dumb show

Sadly this format of mentoring is working against the talent instead of for it. I have always appreciated how Simon keeps it real – and Paula is somewhat ditzy and loveable – but she voted honestly on the talent that stood before her. Hands down the best performance was Rachel – at best Marcus is a lounge act — not worth a $5 million dollar contract. I saw the looks that Nicole was giving LA when it came to voting – she should be ashamed of herself – it looks like she check her ethics at the stage door. LA is limited in his vision – and can’t see beyond what he has created to-date – he voted for himself not the best performance.

Rachel is a rare find and didn’t deserve to be caught up in the power struggle by LA and Nicole. I say there should be three people leaving XFactor — Marcus, La and Nicole.

America’s votes may have put Rachel and Marcus in the bottom two, but America did NOT decide who won the survival song. America never voted on the survival song, That was the job of the judges. (I know they say that if there is a tie, then America breaks the tie, but that is a chicken-hearted way of putting everything back on America and gives the judges a way of not making a decision. It’s easier to put everything back on viewers.) After listening to the two survival songs again, I still feel the same way I did last night. Rachel won. Marcus did his usual arm movements, mumbling the words, bending over at the end, and finishing with a pained expression on his face. Because of this post, America now has a chance to vote for the question: Who won the survival song? So far the answer is by far that Rachel won. Thank you, Matt, for giving the viewers a chance to actually vote on this.

  Totally agree with you Giselle. Rachel nailed her save me song while Marcus was ‘adequate’ but not great. I so wanted to see her for another week or two and Matt’s survey shows I am not alone. Simon must come up with a better format for this show or it won’t be around next year. The judges are so competitive they are not helping the contestants. What was up with Nicole turning to LA? You would think she could make up her own mind, but apparently not. She took the coward’s way out. I believe she thought that the vote count would eliminate Marcus for her but so much for that. When it was time for Nicole to vote and it was still 5 min to 8 I knew she was using the deadlock so I have to think it was all planned anyway.
  
  Josh has always been my favorite so I hope she doesn’t derail him with bad song choices. He deserves the win. He is the ‘every day guy’ that has extraordinary talent.

  Exactly the point I was trying to make to Ed and the Bookaholic. If America were voting on that final performance it would be different but since there was a clear winner and that was Rachel then Nicole should have just gave that decision and moved on. No drama needed. Boo hoo gonna miss ya. Buh bye! But they say America sent Rachel home and we are all just whining about the result. I don’t care who went home but when someone lands down there three weeks in a row against a different person each time then I think his mulligans are all used up. Let Rachel have a mulligan and wake up her fans up and they would be sure and vote from now on.

  I am not upset a bit. The truth is the truth. I am not living in the past and I am not upset with Marcus so you can put that assumption aside. I am trying to explain to all these people who are complaining that actions speak louder than words. Marcus got some of Astro’s votes and that is why Marcus was not the lowest. That is the only explanation because Rachel had always beat him previously. If the supporters of Simon’s girls would just support the one remaining girl instead of getting mad and quitting it would send a message to Nicole and LA. Hey all this hate is out there. I don’t agree with you, Eddy. I have NEVER been a fan of Rachel’s singing. In fact, I told my husband before last night’s show, “Obviously Marcus is going home tonight, but I wish it would be Rachel.”

Then the survival sing-off happened… Marcus did a very good job, but Rachel simply blew me off my couch!! I had been routing against her, but after that performance, I found myself screaming in outrage at the TV over the injustice Nicole had done to Rachel!!

Someone said Rachel was blaming her mom. That isn’t true. Her mom was telling her everything was ok and she asked the question, “You promise?”.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Rachel and I didn’t think she would win but she has been safe all these weeks and everyone has a week where people think that their favorite is safe and dont vote diligently. I believe this is what happened to Rachel and she definitely won the sing off. If Nicole, who had no stake in this challenge, would have voted for the one who won the sing off instead of playing the game Rachel would have made it to the semifinals. Marcus has had three mulligans now. Rachel deserved at least one don’t you think?

But I am not whining about that. If this is the game these judges want to play then everyone in American should play it too to make sure the best wins. And the best is Melanie, so everyone who voted for Rachel should switch to Melanie. It’s time to even the playing field. VFTW now has switched from Astro to Chris Rene and if you don’t switch your votes to Melanie the worst singer in this competition is likely to win. I agree Chris had a good performance on Wednesday night but that makes just a total of 2 for the season. Every performance by Melanie has been good and some were amazing. So IMO she should be the winner hands down!

Taymaro, I agree with your comments. I think Nicole was trying to keep on the good side of L.A. because she still has Josh. Marcus and Chris are not as strong as Melanie and Rachel, so by eliminating Rachel, she was really helping Josh. I’m concerned that next week somehow (whether it is song choice or moving around on the stage) they will find a way to get Melanie in the bottom two, and then L.A. and Nicole will try to get her eliminated. I’m tired of these judges playing chess with the contestants. The feud between Nicole and Simon has interfered with any fair voting between them. They are voting against each other. Being judges and mentors obviously doesn’t work for these judges. They can’t wear both hats and vote fairly. From now until the end of the show let America decide. How many times have the judges turned the survival song over to the viewers, anyway?

I agree with LA that was a surprising performance by Rachel. I figured she would be a basket case like she was after the elimination but she stepped up to the plate and came on that stage to win! Sad she didn’t have that kind of conviction on all of her performances. But she still deserved to stay. There are so many things that affect the voting totals week to week that it is very easy for this to happen and that I believe is the purpose of the sing off and also the purpose of the one judge’s save on AI.

This is the format of this show in every country and I don’t think it will change but the judge’s should change how they vote after these performances IMO. Still love the show and the format even though it gives the possibility of things like this happening. Rachel proved her strength right there and she will be okay. I believe Simon’s statement says it all. He will take care of Rachel, trust me.

Rachel Crow’s survival song was so much better than Marcus. Rachel crow should never have been eliminated. Nicole should have made the decision based on the performance and not on her heart. All the other judges love both of them to, but they made the decision based on performance and Nicole should have to. Nicole was very WRONG in this.

Dont know if I watch the rest of X-Factor they clearly got it wrong no one was better than Rachel. Chris is aweful and so is Josh, cant beleive they got through.

The elimination performance was not used to determine who should be eliminated; rather, it was defaulted to the prior weeks performance vote of the general public. If it was based on the night’s performance, Rachael’s was clearly the best. She knocked it right out of the park – incredible performance under incredible pressure on a kid.
Further thought – I think it is great to give young performers a chance but the process used in X Factor requires more maturity on the part of contestants or at least more adult guidance from supporters and judges to deal with the enormous stress.

I hope and assume that Rachael will get the support of all the judges and the power they weild.

I agree with Jim. The 3 youngest got cut and had a hard time accepting that. Maybe they need to rethink lowering the age for the contestants. Plus the “mentors” could have worked with them and let them know that they may be eliminated at any time and how to accept that on stage with dignity. That said, dangling $5 mil in front of a 14 year old (or anyone for that matter) makes for a lot of tears when it is whisked away.

  I have long said that the age limit on any of these shows should be 18. Most teenagers just can’t deal with the pressure. Sure you get a teenager that has the maturity to handle the pressure(look at the two Idol winners that were under 18 when they won) but for the most part teenagers just can’t handle it. I remember last season on Idol Thia Megia who seemed to think that the judges were like her teachers who had given her a school project and was hoping for a good grade. Then there was Lauren Alania who had a meltdown of sorts when she was in the bottom 2 one week not to mention her behavior when the judges didn’t like one of her performances. And this teenage girl on the Voice was constantly dealing with stage fright issues. I know if these shows were around when I was a teenager and I asked my mom if I could try out for it she would have said no, as she would have known what I would have went through on it and would have known that I couldn’t handle the pressure. I know parents are all for encouraging their children in their talent, but parents should be aware of what their child will go through on these shows before letting them try out for them. I say on all these shows, American Idol, X-Factor, and the Voice the age limit should be 18.

I think the longer the show goes on, the more difficult it is for the contestants to deal with being eliminated. The reason is that the mentors go over the top in telling contestants that they are great, that they are going to win it all, that the mentor has their back,–all these things can make even more mature contestants think that they can’t lose. Even the inflated introductions before each performance (why can’t the host do introductions?) adds to unrealistic drama. Then, when reality sets in, a meltdown occurs. In other reality shows of this type (although I did notice some of it in The Voice), the contestants are not constantly being given the impression they are automatic superstars. It is a form of brain-washing, and over a period of time contestants need to be reminded that they just need to do their best and be original. Being eliminated is a possibility, and sometimes just having a good voice is not enough. And, knowing how to lose says even more about a person than winning it all.

Nicole needs to step up and make a vote based on talent and not be so emotional. I’m not sure why she is on the panel…not the most talented singer out there, but she does have a nice body and can dance. From past realities shows it is becoming clear that the “American” vote is not worth much. Clearly Rachel was the better performer and more entertaining than Marcus Canty. Canty has great personality, but on stage, it gets a little boring. He sounds more like Cee Lo. There was always something new about Rachel when she went on stage. No matter the age, she could have been 30 yrs old, her presence on stage and ability to bring something exciting was always an anticipation I believe many viewers had.

Why doesn’t the survival song vote on this post add up to 100%? What happened to the missing 1%? Am not criticizing the voting idea. I think it is a good one. I remember somewhere in the dim past of math class that percentages should add up to 100%. Right now it is Marcus 78% and Rachel 21%. Maybe that missing 1% is Nicole still trying to make up her mind without coaching from L.A. to tell her what to do?

Rounding. There are no decimals shown on the poll. One could have 0.4 and the other 0.6. Who knows. But since there are thousands of votes there’s little chance things landed evenly on whole numbers for percentages.

I have been a fan of Rachel from the begining I dont think she would have won, but If Nicole would have done the right thing, Rachel would be in the top 3 maybe top 2. I dont like Chris Renee, or Marcus, I love Melanie, and Josh, yes he can sing, but he always looks dirty or bad, (bad like not cleaned up)… I hope Rachel goes some where, she is really great

As we witnessed, the worst of having one’s youth stolen was evidenced by her “meltdown” on national television. Her vulnerable side was splayed out for all to see. My sincere hope is that she moves on with her life in as normal a fashion as possible. I don’t know if she has a future as a performer. For her own sanity’s sake, I almost hope not. Not being a consumer of much pop music, it wouldn’t bother me if she just buckled down in school, went to college, and landed a career as a social worker or a nurse, etc.

If we look back on last week’s elimination LA Reed commented that he had to pick the best performance in the survival song….. this week…. I have to stand by my man!!!! I believe that Paula and Simon were the only ones that stayed focus on what had to be done last nite. You kind of wonder about the credibility of certain people. Simon, its time for Nicole to go…. the attention is suppose to be on the contestants…. not her…. and the host well maybe lacking some experience….!!!!!! I hope for the rest of the contestants, that Paula and Simon will remain impartial and focus. Good Luck to the remaining contestants. you guys are looking at it all wrong, x factor is not like american idol, its not just a “SINGING” Competition. its a talent competition. As much as i liked Rachel she was boring, she stood up and sang, no dancing no walking around the stage just singing, BORING. and Rachel was only a mediocre singer also, listen to the songs, she has a strong voice but but tends to go flat all over and seems to always be shaky, she cant hold onto note she always cuts her notes short when she try’s to make a run in the song. she was only OK. same with Melanie Now she is an amazing singer, has everything thing going for her vocally but where is the entertainment factor, she just stands up there and belts out a song. Amazing but boring and predictable. I am not a huge fan of hip hop or R&B, but Marcus and Chris are by far the most entertaining. ya there not the greatest singers but they know how to entertain people. plus in today’s business most of the huge names in the business today, for instance listen to anyone of these people life performances, Fergie, Miley cyrus, taylor Swift, katey perry, Britney spears, Justin bieber. they sound horrible live, but they entertain, so lets not get down on marcus, he is an entertainer who would sound amazing on cd when they fix his pitch problems and stuff. and lets not pull the, the judges vote only for there people and not whos better. you mean to tell me when paula was trying to save her groups she as going to vote for anybody other then her groups, when she knew every time they got out performed? i dont think so. or when simon was begging for the judges to vote for drew, when all of america knew she boring but him, and then marcus out performed her and simon knew it, do you think he was going to vote for anybody other then drew? nope dont think so. I DVRd last night’s result show and, as usual, zipped through all the garbage (55 minutes worth) to see the elimination. The reaction of that teenage girl pretty much put into perspective how mind-numbingly and brain-cell-killing reality TV shows can be. Even just watching that last few minutes, I could smell my brain cells burning….gone….gone forever……

Pd, in case this is not too late, I really did’nt notice your comments till now, Good point, I can see why a few of the comments wants your head, or rather wants to cut your thumb
off from where it was attached?? ha ha. But seriuosly, think
about it, too some of us who pay attention to more details
of each and every performances, stripping away emotions and
bias ,on Wednesday night’s performace, you know it and I know it and most of the viewers including the people that wants
your thumb taken permanently knows it that both Marcus and
Rachel’s songs were the least favourite so it was no surprise
that these two were in the bottom, hopefully everyone can
honestly agree to this. Regardless who is more cuter, more
huggable etc, etc.The point of the matter is either one will have
to go home. On the save me song, I agree it could have gone
on Rachel’s favour but then again so is Marcus chances cause
at that point in time I consider the save me song a waste of
time, since for the last three weeks it didn’t really matter whether the Judges got it right or not, it has proven that it is
bad all the way for them. If the viewers can only look at this
in an objective manner and be honest to themselves and based
their decisions and comments on the overall performances and
dynamics of the songs the singers choose.
Rachel is a dynamite girl no doubt about that, but her singing
still needs to improve in order to win this whole thing.
It has nothing to do with age, Look at what took place in
America’s Got Talent, a ten year old girl by the name of Jackie
Evancho, who blew away all of America last year. I did not see

If only some of Drew’s fans had voted for Rachel we wouldn’t be in this predicament. No they all have to get mad and quit watching and voting. They can’t just move to another contestant and support the group that their favorite was from. That’s how this is supposed to work. As each contestant goes the votes get spread to other contestants. Would rather have Cheryl but I was a little bit angry with her and her interview at the Brit Awards. I think I may have mistook what she said though. She said she had a hard time swallowing Adele’s performance or had to swallow it back or something like that. I thought she was saying she didn’t like it but maybe it reminded her of her failed relationship. I am not sure. Maybe I was a bit hasty on getting upset at that.

Also I hope it helps Mel’s chances and also I don’t think Nicole understood that when Drew and Astro left the vote percentages will naturally take a swing and Marcus surged ahead of Rachel. Clearly she is not mentally prepared to make it in the industry. And it’s not because she is young there are a lot of young people who can handle themselves in a more mature way in front of people. There we go again, we are Judge, Jury and Executioner and we
have sentenced Marcus to go to “LooserVille” for the fourth time.
This is without giving him an opportunity to sing next week. So, if in case another screwy mix up occurs next week that he does not go home and somebody else (there are only 3, Josh, Melanie and Chris) go home instead, I will be afraid to even step out of the house, Chaos
and pandemonium and if I were Marcus I will hire some big and nasty
body guards to protect him as well as the Judge who will be
responsible in sending either Josh, Melanie or Chris home.

For the record , I have been a Josh fan from the time he entered the
competetion, but I won’t burst like a balloon if he loose, this is what
competetion is all about. If it so happens that Marcus do a crazy
thing like kill the songs he performs and the fans went crazy in love
with him , you never know ! just imagine what will happen

It is a toss up who will end up bottom two next week. I have a feeling it will be Chris as one though. Just because I don’t think he will benefit from acquiring any of the eliminated contestant’s votes. They will be spread over Mel, Josh and Marcus. Marcus could survive yet another week.

I am quite surprised about all the emotion as well. I used to watch American Idol. I don’t remember it ever being like this. Was it? Was I missing something?

I think this week will be an interesting week. I think people who are shouting about Marcus being in the bottom three times in the row are missing the point. Some people vote based on the singing but most people know who they want to vote for before it starts. What often changes, is how motivated you are to keep voting through the whole two hours. Let’s be real, 2 hours is a long time to vote. Marcus’ fans vote the whole 2 hours every week because they know they have to and as more and more people get voted off, those votes transfer. Some do, not all.

Honestly, Ed, I think you need to get your voting fingers ready because I think Rachel’s votes will transfer to Chris or Melanie just based on her voice and music style. I think the judges will vote Marcus off if he is in the bottom no matter who he is in the bottom with him because they feel they have to right previous wrongs perceived by the public.

LA Reid doesn’t care. Either way he will have an act in the finals. No other judge can say that.

  Yes we know what to expect from Melanie. There are no surprises there. She will sing Hero because I’m sure that is what everyone voted for. She will stand behind a microphone and lift her hands up and down. Other people may or may not move around her, but she will not move for sure.

  I honestly don’t know where to go. Melanie’s vocals are on point…but I wouldn’t buy a cd full of ballads. Josh’s voice I can appreciate, but I wouldn’t buy his cd. The judges may be petty and conniving, but I don’t think the viewers are going to punish their favorites by voting against them, just to get back at the judges. Totally not fair to Josh, just because his mentor is a basket case!

America just didn’t vote enough for Rachel. She just happened to be the only contestant that I did vote for. This is really unusual for me, because I usually vote for at least three.

I really felt that LA threw Rachel under the bus with his comment “I’m not suppose to say anything, but I hear rumors about Hollywood”. The judges on all these types of talent shows, do & say things to try to manipulate votes one way or the other. LA is a very intelligent man & he made that statement with a purpose.

At any rate, it is just another case of people feeling she was safe & not voting enough for her. I don’t think she would have won for sure. But I would have liked to see her make it one more week.

We can’t vote on the sing off. Only the judges can and one particular judge decided she was going to be derelict in her duty and not give an honest decision based on that performance. The winner was clear. Look above at the votes. Who do you think did the best job? Was it a clear win or not?
She should give Rachel $5 mil out or her own pocket to help launch her career. Rachel deserved to be in the semifinals.

I agree. I usually vote for Marcus & Rachel but with only 5 had to switch to voting for Rachel only.

I was not concerned about her though. I simply over-analyzed it. I figured she would be fine because she could out sing anyone she ended up in the bottom with. So I didn’t see that outcome coming at all.

If Marcus ends up in the bottom with Chris, do people think the judges should vote Marcus off because it would be in his 4th time in the bottom? Or do people think Chris is a better singer? Or should the sing off matter? I’m really curious about that possible scenario.

I think it should be judged on the save me performance. Who ever wins the night should stay. Isn’t that what the sing off is for. And we don’t get to vote on that. LA will have a difficult decision to make for sure!

There are a couple of reasons that I think Marcus will get more votes than Chris next week. But then you have to figure in the VFTW vote too. So it really is a toss up if you ask me.

This is just my 2cents. XFactor is a well crafted show. Simon wants to get people talking about it and he has. I don’t believe he is too upset with the results either because he knew Rachel wasn’t going to win (after all, she DID get the fewest amount of viewer votes). Now he has a bunch of people who take it to the extremes, saying that they will not vote for Josh out of spite for Nicole. This, of course, leaves Melanie up against Chris and Simon guarantees his win because Marcus will be out next week, (I mean how many lives does Marcus have? I believe he’s used up all of his lines already).
As far as Rachel goes, I do believe everyone is going off the deep end because she is a little girl. Had that been Chris up there, most people would not have cared if Nicole left it to viewers’ votes. In fact, I recall many people on this board being angry at Paula for not having done that the previous week.
Rachel was not going to win. This only solidifies that America did not want her to win so why bother giving her a 5 million dollar contract?

Vote Melanie Amaro!! The winner of the sing off was clear. Look up at the votes. Rachel won the sing off by a country mile. Nicole’s vote was supposed to be for the best performer in that particular song. The only reason Marcus got more votes is because he got some of Astro’s votes. Astro is telling all his twitter followers to vote for Team LA Reid. They weren’t actually votes for Marcus and that is why he surpassed Rachel this week. When that happens the sing off decision by The Judges is supposed to correct that! That is the whole reason they give the judges save power in the first place. Nicole decided she was incapable of giving an honest decision when the result was clear that Rachel out sang Marcus. The week before the results weren’t so clear because Drew and Marcus were equally as bad. In that situation it is o.k. to use the deadlock. Just give us an impartial decision is all we ask. Is that too much?

  My bad! Paula didn’t send it to the public vote. She voted. I personally believe she was honest in her vote and thought Marcus did a better job. So it was Simon who sent it to the public vote when he couldn’t decide between Marcus and Leroy. But it wasn’t because he chickened out. He wanted America’s pick to stay in because he didn’t have a personal preference.

I do not think the viewers are that stupid to punish a very gifted
singer like Josh, so they can get back at Nicole, who were
caught between a rock and hard place last week. If they do
then they are no better than what they are accusing Nicole of.
Simon did care thats why he let it go to viewer’s vote, and as it turned out he was right. Just like Melanie, Leroy has an excellent vocals actually, probably better than most of the competitors, but he is a bit outdated in style so it sounded boring. Melanie too has excellent pipes but if she continues to play SAFE and persist in choosing outdated and over-used songs like Mariah and Whitney she will not win. Viewers have ears too, and they know what souinds good, what’s entertaining, what’s dynamic and re-freshing. I am going to predict a Chris VS Josh finale but I am keeping my eye on Nine Lives Marcus to throw in some complications again.

Anyone reading this, don’t succumb to the emotional pressure
that is happenning, and be objective. Stay true to who you believe is the real XFactor singer, the Judges are just by-product of the show not the product, look for the GEM, it doesn’t matter where it came from, think about it!!

On idea I have is for if the judges are deadlocked then have the studio audience decide on who goes home. Have like little remote control devices at their seats and if the judges can’t decided then they pick up the devices and vote on who they think did better on the survival song. It’s better than giving it up to the vote that had happened the night before which wasn’t on the survival song.

As far the judging vs mentoring goes. I say have a judging panel, but hire in four people to be mentors, so when it comes time for the judges to critique and vote on who won the sing off then the judges will not be biased towards a certain contestant because they could be mentoring that contestant. It seemed to me that Paula was the only judge who voted fairly on the survival song in voting to send Marcus home. I would say Simon voted fairly but I don’t think he was going to vote against a contestant that he mentored. LA seemed to want to vote for Rachel but since he was mentoring Marcus he wasn’t about to vote against him. Nicole, I don’t know what she was thinking I think she just might have the hots for Marcus. Shows they should have never have fired Cheryl Cole. I sure hope that Nicole isn’t back for season two. Those are some changes that I would make for season two.

Simon should really consider making some changes if he wants to have a season 3 of this show, because if things remain as they are then there won’t be a season 3. Idol does well because there aren’t judges bickering at each other(they disagree at times, but they don’t spend time bickering at each other). Ryan Secrest(who I am no fan of but after watching Steve Jones I have grown to appreciate him)doesn’t tell the judges to shut up, and if he’s got to move things along he finds a way to do so that isn’t rude. Steve Jones said that he has the producers yelling in his ear to move it along, and I am sure that Ryan Secrest gets that on Idol but he isn’t rude about it.

The Voice had the judges who are called coaches mentor contestants, but there wasn’t the constant bickering on that show that is a problem that X-Factor has. The Voice has some bugs to work out on that show, but it’s nothing like what the X-Factor has. The Voice was a strong show and ended on a high note last season, and has potential to be on for quite a while. Like I said there’s some things that need to be worked out on the Voice, but it’s nothing like the problems that X-Factor has. I only still watching X-Factor because I am a Melanie fan otherwise I would have stopped watching weeks ago if it wasn’t for her being on that show.

Just a thought–I wonder if Nichole didn’t vote for Rachael because she knew Rachael hadn’t been in the bottom 2 BUT Marcus had. Therefore, Rachael if she stayed in the competition might win over her guy Josh. This way Josh is in for another week at least and Rachael is out of the way!! They also should have went by adding all the other weeks scores in–that would have been the fair way to do it!!
