On Thursday night’s episode of X Factor 2012, two more acts went home, but they weren’t exactly the two acts I thought would be going home.

OK, I expected one, but not the other. Paige Thomas and Vino Alan were eliminated and while I sort of expected Paige to be in danger, I was surprised by Vino’s quick fall from third place.

This week the producers decided to get right down to business as all the acts were called on stage and Paige was eliminated right away. The rest of the results were put on hold as X Factor Season One runner-up Josh Krajcik returned to the stage for a performance. And it was a good performance. I’m actually going to look up the song as soon as I’m done writing.

After Josh’s performance, it’s time to find out who is going straight through into the Top 6. The acts and their mentors are brought on stage in typical dramatic fashion and the results begin. Fifth Harmony was the first act sent to safety, followed by CeCe Frey. Not many of us were expecting her to be sent to safety. Emblem 3 and Carly Rose Sonenclar are sent to safety next.

That leaves Tate Stevens, Vino Alan and Diamond White. Tate is safe. Diamond and Vino are the bottom two and will have to sing for the judges to stay in the contest. But first, we have to sit through a really bad performance by Alicia Keys.

After that wretched performance, it’s time for the sing-off. Diamond is up first and she’s singing Beyonce’s “I Was Here.” Diamond delivered a solid and emotional performance. She was really going for it. Was it a perfect performance? No, but she fought for it.

Vino took the stage next with his version of “Trouble” and while it was a great performance, it became aware that he doesn’t really have anywhere else to go in this contest. He’s not going to beat Carly or even Tate. It’s best for him to just step aside now. At least in my opinion.

But it’s not up to me. It’s up to the judges. And L.A of course votes for Diamond to go while Britney votes for Vino to go. And now for the impartial judges. Demi sends Vino home and so does Simon. So that’s that. Vino is the second person to leave the competition this week.

Thankfully, they’re still delivering us the full vote results and here’s how those stacked up this week:

1. Carly Rose Sonenclar

2. Tate Stevens

3. Emblem3

4. Fifth Harmony

5. CeCe Frey

6. Diamond White

What did you think of this week’s X Factor 2012 results show? Did America and the judges get the decisions right this time or no?

The X Factor 2012 Top 8 will become the Top 6 tonight as two more acts are sent packing based on America’s votes and a little judge input.

Also tonight, Alicia Keys is set to take to the stage to perform in between results. As is last season’s runner-up Josh Krajcik.

So which of the Top 8 — Emblem 3, Fifth Harmony, Diamond White, Carly Rose Sonenclar, Tate Stevens, Vino Alan, CeCe Frey and Paige Thomas — will come out on top and which two will go home? We’ll know later tonight, but that won’t stop us from speculating now.

If you went solely on our poll from last night’s performances, then Carly Rose Sonenclar is totally safe. Not only is she safe, but she’s untouchable. As of 2 AM, she was minting almost 50 percent of the vote in the poll. Tate Stevens comes in second with about 17-18 percent of the vote. So they’re both 100 percent safe. The rest of the singers split the votes, which makes it hard to say who is in real danger.

I don’t think Emblem3 will be going anywhere and neither will Vino Alan. So that leaves, CeCe, Paige, Diamond and Fifth Harmony. I think CeCe’s time might finally be up. And possibly Paige? Who do you think will be heading home?

Be sure to check back for the live results and later for the full recap of The X Factor 2012 results show.

This week’s X Factor 2012 theme was No. 1 songs, so you’d think the performances would’ve been better. Eh, not so much. Aside from a few good moments, most of the night was just sort of flat

Diamond White, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”

Another day, another Whitney song. I liked the slow, ballad-y start. That was nice to switch it up a bit before breaking into the up tempo song that we all know it to be. But then the performance got a bit rocky and was kind of sloppy. She had fun with it though and displayed a lot of energy. B-

Vino Alan, “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling”

This is an old song, but Vino made it not feel that old. I was going to say new, but no one can do that. But he did make it feel less old. It was a bit boring until the little rap/reggae moment near the end. But his vocals were spot on the whole time. B+

Paige Thomas, “Never Gonna Give You Up”

Maybe Paige should ignore Demi’s advice more often because this was the first time her performance didn’t make me want to put my head in my microwave and turn it on. The staging and dancers and all that still got on my nerves, but her vocals were good. B+

Fifth Harmony, “Stronger”

This was a smart song choice. And the styling was great. And the solo vocals were all spot-on. It was lacking harmony, however. Simon was right about this performance. I think it might gain them some new fans. It definitely made it feel like they were a very close group that wasn’t just assembled at the start of this season. A-

Carly Rose Sonenclar, “Rolling in the Deep”

OK, let me get this out of the way: the hat and the look was stupid. But the performance? Fantastic. I think doing Adele has already become cliche, but Carly is so good it doesn’t really matter. She did change it up a bit, so that was refreshing. But that voice? How is she that young? A+

Tate Stevens, “Somebody to Love”

Well that was as country as it can get, so Tate isn’t going anywhere. His vocals were great and the energy was great and he was Tate. He’s good. I wish I liked country more, though, so I could appreciate it more. A-

CeCe Frey, “Lady Marmalade”

Wow, this was bad on so many levels, I don’t even have words. Wait, yes I do. The vocals were spotty. I think she missed words. The staging was atrocious and the outfits? Honey Boo Boo wouldn’t even be caught dead in that garbage. D-

Emblem 3, “I’m a Believer”

What? This song? Really?Hmm. Interesting. I thought it was awful. It was only slightly better than CeCe. I guess Simon is putting all his eggs in Fifth Harmony’s basket this week. C-

What did you think of the performances? Who were your favorites?

Tonight the X Factor 2012 Top 8 takes on No. 1 songs as they sing for your votes, America.

That means we could be hearing a number of different songs from a number of different eras. And if Simon Cowell has anything to do with it, his acts will probably do a mash-up of No. 1 songs. Ugh. Let’s hope not.

So which of these Top 8 acts are going to get your votes this week: Teens – Carly Rose Sonenclar and Diamond White; Young Adults – CeCe Frey and Paige Thomas; Over 25s – Vino Alan and Tate Stevens; and Groups – Emblem3 and Fifth Harmony?

This week on THE X FACTOR, the Top 8 will perform songs that hit Number One on the charts on WED NOV 28 at 8/7c on FOX. This week’s performance show will also feature the debut of the new music video of “Scream and Shout” by will.i.am and our very own Britney Spears!

Be sure to check back in here for live coverage of tonight’s X Factor 2012 Top 8 performances and then later for a full recap of the show.

This week on X Factor 2012, the Top 8 will be taking on #1 hits! That means the songs can all be from this year or from 25 years ago. That’s a broad spectrum. But since they’re all #1 hits, there’s a good chance they’ll be good songs. Unless someone does some terrible one-hit wonder. Ha.

Normally at this time, I’d be sharing with you some of the Top 8 teasing their song choices. But since Fox LOVES to make me crazy and not remain consistent on anything, we don’t have that information this week. So if it comes up before Wednesday night’s show we’ll share. But in the meantime, all we know is the theme and the non-competiton performance going on that night:

This week on THE X FACTOR, the Top 8 will perform songs that hit Number One on the charts on WED NOV 28 at 8/7c on FOX. This week’s performance show will also feature the debut of the new music video of “Scream and Shout” by will.i.am and our very own Britney Spears! — Fox
