The X Factor 2012 Top 3 performed for America’s votes one final time Wednesday night and tonight one of those three will be crowned the winner of Season 3.

So who is it going to be? Fifth Harmony (mentored by Simon Cowell), Carly Rose Sonenclar (mentored by Britney Spears) or Tate Stevens (mentored by L.A. Reid)? I think after the night’s performances, it could be anyone’s game. Carly and a few iffy moments, Tate was slow and steady and Fifth Harmony shined. So there could have been a shift in votes.

According to our poll, you guys still think Carly is on top, with Tate coming in second and Fifth Harmony in third.

Aside from the naming of the new winner, the two-hour finale will include multiple performances by all the finalists and guest performers, including One Direction and Pitbull.

Be sure to check back here for live coverage of the X Factor 2012 live finale and a full recap of the show later.

The X Factor 2012 two-part finale started Wednesday night with the Top 3 taking on three songs each. And everyone is going to have their own opinions, but from what I saw, Fifth Harmony came from behind to win the night.

As I mentioned, each contestant performed three songs. Round one was a song they have already performed (their best of the season, it’s presumed). The second was a duet with a special guest. And the last was just a random song of their choice.

Carly Rose Sonenclar, Feeling Good

Oh, boy, this song again. But since she sang it during her audition, I guess that’s OK. And since it’s her, I’ll definitely let it pass. Her styling was definitely an F, but the performance was great. I sill can’t believe she’s only 13. Her vocals were strong and she command the stage. A

Tate Stevens, Anything Goes

I don’t remember him singing this before, so I’m not sure what that says about the performance or myself. I thought it was very boring and dragged on too long. The vocals were fine, but it’s not a song or performance I want to hear ever again. B

Fifth Harmony, Anything Can Happen

This was the best performance of the season, so it was a smart move to do this song again. I thought it was odd to do the exact same staging, but it was still great. It wasn’t any better than the first time, which either means they didn’t try or there was nothing wrong with it in the first place. At any rate, I thought it was great and the best performance of the first round. A+

Carly Rose Sonenclar, How Do I Live

Her duet with LeAnn Rimes got off to a bit of a rocky start. She seemed pretty unrehearsed. I thought by the time LeAnn came out, things would improve, but that didn’t happen. They were both all over the place. It was a huge mess. F

Tate Stevens, Pontoon

Little Big Town joined Tate for this one. While the song was catchy and fun, it was just kind of there. It was definitely better than Carly and LeAnn. Overall, it was just kind of middle of the road. B+

Fifth Harmony, Give Your Heart A Break

Paired with Demi (which I find odd), and I am so happy that I can say this, but they sounded WAY better than she did. They definitely showed her up. It wasn’t a bad performance. It wasn’t amazing either. It was just OK. B

Carly Rose Sonenclar, Hallelijah

This song? Again? So she did Feeling Good and Hallelujah? She’s got the singing show songs covered. And again, it was just kind of OK. I’m not sure what’s going on with her this week. It’s almost like she’s trying to lose. There were good moments in the song, but how about something upbeat? B+

Tate Stevens, Love You Like There’s No Tomorrow

Another country ballad song. The vocals were great, but again I was bored. I’m sure he’s still going to win this thing, so it doesn’t matter. I just wasn’t that entertained. B

Fifth Harmony, Let It Be

This was a great performance. I feel like the show is doing everything in its power to make sure Fifth Harmony wins tomorrow night. And it might be working. They definitely had the best showing of the night. This was a very solid performance. A

I just feel like Fifth Harmony had the best showing of the night. And as I just mentioned, it almost feels like the producers are trying to push them. From their duet with Demi to the pimp spot (final performance of the night) to a Beatles song to appeal to the older voters. It just all seems like they’re the ones intended to take the win. Oh, and I guess I could also mention they’re Simon’s group, and this is Simon’s show…

What did you think of the Top 3 performances? Who is going to win X Factor 2012?

The Top 4 had a pretty strong night on X Factor 2012 Wednesday night and it couldn’t have been at a more important time. All four acts performed two songs each and each performance was strong. Only one person will be going home Thursday night and after the performances the night before, anything can happen.

Round One: Their choice

Tate Stevens, Bonfire

This was very country, so his country followers should be happy. And it was a good performance. I’m not a country fan, but he had a lot of energy and the vocals were good. It was definitely one of his most entertaining performances. And it was his own choice, which tends to always be better, despite what producers think. A

Carly Rose Sonenclar, Your Song

It was a quiet and melancholy version of the song, but it worked. And just when you thought it was going to stay on one level, Carly raised it and made it something great and unique. She’s not going anywhere this week. No way. A+

Emblem 3, Baby I Love Your Way

The start of the song was painful and I got a little worried that was how the whole song was going to go, but the guys broke out their little reggae/rap slant and actually turned the song into something. It reminded me of the way they were in the beginning when I kind of sort of thought they were OK. This was much better than the past several weeks. B+

Fifth Harmony, Anything Could Happen

I thought the staging, costumes and all that were horrible and stupid, but the singing was fantastic. The song choice was good, the vocals were there, the harmonies were on. I’d say this was one of their best performances all season. A+

Round Two: Mentor’s choice

Tate Stevens, Fall

Tate slowed things down this time and the reason behind the song had a good narrative, so another smart move. I thought the performance was a little boring, especially compared to his first song. But I think he’s going to be just fine not matter what. B+

Carly Rose Sonenclar, Imagine

It was great to see her on the piano. I”m not so sure I like that she changed up the song so much. That’s a song that a lot of people would call sacred so that was a huge risk and I’m not sure it paid off. I think she should have just performed it as it’s always been performed. B

Emblem 3, Hey Jude

This was easily Emblem 3′s best performance that is unlike their last. I know that’s confusing, but what I mean is, this was good for them and they didn’t even have to put the reggae/rap spin on. It was good. I’ve been harsh on them, so I’m giving them credit when it’s due. B+

Fifth Harmony, Impossible

This was the song that made everyone think “wow this group might actually work” back during the judges’ homes round, but did it have the same impact this time? No. It was actually pretty boring. The vocals were good, but this was THE moment to really steal the show and singing in Spanish wasn’t enough to get it there. I think they had to focus on showing up Emblem 3 and since E3 actually did well, FH is in trouble. B+

What did you think of the Top 4 performances? Who do you think will move on to the finals next week?

Please tell me I’m not the only one who noticed on Wednesday night’s episode of X Factor 2012 that most of the acts were freaking out because they had to just get on the stage and sing? They were freaking out that one of the themes was unplugged! They’re in a singing contest! So why are they all using those horrible production numbers as a crutch? I just don’t get it.

OK, on to the recap. As usual, I review each performance and assign the letter grade I think each deserved. Each act performed two songs this week.

ROUND ONE: Unplugged songs

CeCe Frey, Edge of Glory

Well, it was nice to hear her just sing but I can’t really give her or Demi the credit on that since it was this week’s theme. That being said it was still just OK. She’s just not a singer worth $5 million but who really is these days? Whatever, I give up on music. C

Emblem 3, Just THe Way You Are.

Yikes. This was so not good. There was no harmony. There were ridiculous pitch efforts. The song is a lame one (sorry Bruno fans). I’m just going to stop now before I get really mean. D-

Carly Rose Sonenclar, As Long As You Love Me

Well that’s not a good song in my opinion, but I’m pretty sure I’m an alien who doesn’t related to modern music. Aside from the song choice, Carly sounded great. We all know she can sing and doesn’t hide behind the production, so this was just another day for Carly. A

Fifth Harmony, Set Fire To The Rain

This was definitely one of their best performances because of the whole all stripped down thing. But if I’m going to get really critical, I can complain about the song choice and the fact that it was kind of boring. Adele songs are so overdone and I found myself yawning. B-

Diamond White, It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World

I didn’t think it was really that unplugged! There were a ton of instruments on that stage. That being said, I think that was probably Diamond’s best performances. Her vocals were there and she was really really into it. Welcome to the show, Diamond. A-

Tate Stevens, Living On A Prayer

Tate’s vocal was probably one of his best. But the song choice and performance were boring. And this song sounds weird slow. The arrangement definitely wasn’t my favorite. But overall, it was a solid performance. B+

ROUND TWO: Pepsi Challenge Songs

CeCe, Part of Me

There’s the CeCe I’ve grown to loathe and dread! I almost enjoyed her unplugged song, so I’m glad the other one is back. You know, the one who was auto tuned all the way through this performance and even left out some lyrics? Yeah that one. Wretched. F

Emblem 3, Forever Young

Well, that was better but still not good. I used to really like these guys and I thought they were going to steamroll this contest, but I don’t know what happened. I thought it was so bah. C+

Carly Rose Sonenclar, If I Were A Boy

I don’t know why this is ever an option to sing. It sounds weird even when Beyonce does it. It’s got all these weird notes and minor keys. It just always sounds off-key. Carly is better than this song, so it’s hard to judge fairly. So I’ll just throw out a letter. B+

Fifth Harmony, Fifth Harmony

That was really good and they were actually harmonizing. So L.A. Reid is happy. The judges liked them and they deserved the credit they were given. A

Diamond White, Diamonds

This performance was not as strong as her first, but it was still better than several of her pasts ones. So I think it’s safe to say Diamond really brought it this week. There were a few moments when the performance sounded whiney but it was pretty solid over all. B+

Tate Stevens, If Tomorrow Never Comes

His vocals were spot on and that was totally in his wheelhouse, but to do something I never do and agree with Demi, it was a bit sleepy. But that’s because of the song choice, and America is to blame for that. So whatever. Good job, though. A

What did you think of the performances? Who were your favorites? Answer that by taking our poll.
