New X Factor 2011 Commercial Released

With just two months until the X Factor 2011 premiere FOX is starting to ramp up the marketing campaign again with the second commercial in the past week. Then there was also the interview Simon Cowell gave detailing how much each episode of X Factor USA would cost them. This looks to be a major production, just as it should be.

Can Simon still pick up where he left off with American Idol?

Simon Says X Factor USA Episodes Will Cost 3.3 Million Dollars

Whoa. This puts that $5 million prize in perspective. Simon Cowell says each episode of X Factor USA will cost 2.1 million pounds which converts over to more than $3.3 million in US currency. That’s incredible and it really puts the pressure on the former American Idol judge to deliver.

Despite all his past success and multi-millionaire status – he also revealed how nervous he was about failure in America.

Cowell, 51, described it as the most expensive reality show ever, costing £2.1million an episode, and said: “This better bloody work or I am in huge trouble.”

“I thought, ‘This is either going to work or it’s not and there’s nothing I can do about it’.”

With the money being spent on US X Factor, Cowell would need an audience of between 15 million and 20 million to call it a success.

Lets hope this does all work out or we won’t have anymore of Simon’s catty comments to laugh over! Don’t forget that X Factor premieres September 2011 on FOX.

X Factor Mocks American Idol In New Promo

Take that, American Idol. Simon Cowell is back and he doesn’t want anyone to confuse his new show or persona with his past days on FOX’s Idol. To make it perfectly clear they’ve released this new promo clip for X Factor 2011. Notice there’s no sign of Cheryl Cole as she’s been officially replaced by Nicole Scherzinger.

Considering both Idol and X Factor are on the same network it might be wiser to take on other channel’s singing competition rather than chewing on its own arm, but okay.

Can’t wait to see Simon back in action along with Paula Adbul. Should be awesome.

Was Cheryl Cole Fired From X Factor USA?

Yesterday the rumors started to swirl that Cheryl Cole, the former UK X Factor judge who was transplanted to America for the new X Factor USA season, had been fired from her new job. Of course those rumors were coming from a certain celebrity gossip organization that shall not be named but starts with “T” and ends with “Z” which meant I’d ignore everything they said. But here’s the thing, FOX has made no rebuttal of the rumors and even THR is reporting:

Now it seem that Cowell has lost his battle to keep Cheryl, with Fox bosses taking the view, according to reports, that her strong North Eastern British accent is problematic. Other reports cite a lack of chemistry with Paula Abdul, homesickness and the fact that she hasn’t been up to the mark in the glamor stakes as reasons she may have been ditched.

I’m going to be very, very disappointed if this is true. Especially if the follow-on news is true that co-host Nicole Scherzinger will be taking over. I had never heard her name before she was picked up as a co-host, but the stories of her attitude aren’t very endearing.

Until FOX confirms the news either way I’m going to hold out hope. Cole was a big favorite as a judge on the UK version and I was thrilled we’d have the chance to get her as part of the USA version.
