X Factor 2012: Top 12 Results Show Tonight

Last night, the X Factor 2012 Top 12 performed for America’s votes and tonight the journey ends for another one of them.
And since we got to see how the acts were ranked in the voting last week, we have more of an idea about what could happen this week. Unless some of the acts turned things around this week. And some did try.
I think (if they show us the voting results again), we’ll see improvements from Emblem3 and Jennel Garcia. I think we’ll see Lyric145 and Vino Alan slide. But still near the bottom will be Arin Ray, Beatrice Miller and CeCe Frey. Any of those three could be in the bottom two and find themselves singing for their survival. Or we get get a totally different and surprising outcome. We’ll have to wait and see tonight.
Also tonight, Taylor Swift will perform live during the filler portion of the results show.
Be sure to check back here for the live results and again later for the full recap of tonight’s episode of X Factor 2012.
X Factor 2012 Top 12 Performances Recap: Demi Tones Her Team Down

After Demi Lovato’s team didn’t fare so well in last week’s rankings, the judge decided to tone down her team a bit for the X Factor 2012 Top 12 week. And while I think that was a very, very smart move, it may have been too late for at least one of her acts.
Overall, the entire show was better. There was more of a focus on singing and a little less production, which has been my biggest criticism so far. Like always, I’ll review each act and assign the letter grade I think each one deserves.
Jennel Garcia, “Proud Mary.” This performance was much better than last week. Her look was toned down and she focused more on her vocals, all while keeping it upbeat and fun. She stayed true to who she really is as an artist. I’m glad Demi realized what she had to do. B+
Tate Stevens, “From This Moment.” This was kind of a surprising song choice! But it is diva week, so it makes sense for him to choose a country diva. I thought it was a great performance. I think it’s safe to say he won’t be straying too far from that #1 spot he landed in last week. Not with a popular song like that. Not, to mention a good vocal. Hat’s off, Tate. A+
Diamond White, “Halo.” Another good vocal performance this week. This can’t be an easy song to sing either. It’s written in all these weird notes that Beyonce even sounds kind of weird singing. So Diamond did a great job with it. And the staging wasn’t overdone, so that’s always a plus for me. B+

X Factor 2012: Top 12 Performs Tonight

The X Factor 2012 Top 12 take to the stage tonight and they’ll be singing songs by divas. Yes, that’s right. It’s Divas Week!
While they’re still keeping their song choices under wraps, the Top 12 have revealed some hints and shard some secrets to their performances.
“This is a song I would sing in every day life and it’s a song that I really love,” Diamond White says. “I like that this performance is more extravagant and I get to move a bit more. No dancers, just me by myself. The feeling is different than anything I’ve done so far. It’s an uplifting song and it affects me in a good way. It gets me in the moment.”
Diva Week wasn’t good news for everyone. But everyone has embraced the theme in one way or another, it seems.
“When we first got the theme, we were like, Diva Week? They don’t care about us, whatever, but once we came up with the genius idea we did, we know it’s gonna be crazy,” Lyric Da Queen of Lyric145 said. “It’s unexpected. We did write our own lyrics this week.”
So how does a MALE country artist handle Diva Week?
“Divas week is tough for me,” Tate Stevens said. “It’s a challenge. I think I picked a great song, though. I like it because it’s a very emotional song. I set the bar high for myself last week and now I have to get back there. But I do feel the pressure for being No. 1 last week. This week, No. 12 can be No. 1 and No. 1 can be No. 12. You just have to bring it each week.”
Be sure to check back in later for live coverage of the Top 12 performances and a little later for the full recap of the show.
The X Factor 2012: Top 12 Week

In typical Fox fashion, this week’s X Factor 2012 promo focuses on Demi’s flirts, Britney’s critiques and the Simon and L.A. Reid staged feuds ahead of the actual point of the show: THE SINGERS!
OK, OK, I apologize for being so critical of The X Factor this season, but right now I’m just waiting on it to be about the singing. And not the look of the contestants, or the costumes or the bickering. And I think America agrees with me as they put Tate Stevens in the top spot last week. That means they’re more interested in hearing the contestants sing and not seeing a bunch of over-produced numbers made up of half-naked back-up dancers, flying singers and smoke machines. Just sing!
On Thursday night, Taylor Swift will perform during the results show that will send another act home based on America’s votes and the judges’ final decision.
Be sure to check back in on Wednesday night for live coverage of the show and a little later for the full recap of the show.
